Who Should Apply
Toastmasters come from many walks of life and backgrounds, but generally it is those who thrive on people that are best suited to the role.
Having a sense of humour, excellent organising ability, immaculate in personal appearance and bearing are important.
Tact and diplomacy and a firm commitment to customer care are essential qualities.
If you have been involved in drama or have tread the boards in some way it will be an advantage. Fluency in a second language is always useful, and an ability to speak clearly and precisely with perfect grammar is particularly welcome. There are no age limits but maturity is regarded as a virtue.
The role most suits those who are retired or semi retired. You will need a degree of flexibility around weekends, with PC literacy, email capability and presentable and reliable transport. Experience in people management will be useful but not essential as training will be given on this subject.
Although anyone can apply, the role is valuable to those retiring early in life such as Police Officers and ex Military personnel as their previous experience is ideally suited to becoming a Toastmaster.
